The Indigenous Research Center of the Americas (IRCA) was founded in 1994 as an affiliated center of the Department of Native American Studies at the University of California, Davis. Until 1996 IRCA published two issues of First Nations/Pueblos Originarios. Occasional Papers of the Indigenous Research Center of the Americas. Since 2003 IRCA has opened a web page in the UC eScholarship Repository. The website is open to indigenous and non-indigenous scholars and activists from the Americas and the world and, as in the case of IRCA itself, it is intended to be a forum of debates, opinions, information and reflections on the situation of the Indigenous Peoples/Native Americans and their struggle for achieving higher levels of autonomy and securing a future of sovereignty and self-determination.

El Centro Indígena de Investigación de las Américas (Indigenous Research Center of the Americas-IRCA) se fundó en 1994 como un centro afiliado al Departamento de Estudios Indígenas de la Universidad de California en Davis (Department of Native American Studies at UC Davis).
